Why people need to have more than one email accounts

There is only one email I use, and that is my yahoo email account. This all came to change when I started meeting new friends who communicated via other email accounts. There was one who was on hotmail and there are those who are on aim and then there are those who would rather use aol. So I had to create all these accounts because I knew that if I needed to talk to any of them or even chatting them, then that would be the better option. When I went to the university, we were given another email address that became my default email because this is where the school and the lecturers communicated. That is where all the assignments and class notes were sent to and that is also where all the class cancellations were sent to. So when I went to MSN Hotmail sign in, I found a lot of email messages that had been sent to me. Most of them were spam but some were not and filtering all those mails was really tough.
